Sugar Hill Farm ships flash-frozen, farm-direct beef nationwide, along with local pickup options for our Pennsylvania neighbors. This page explains how orders are packed, shipped, and delivered, and what to do if anything goes wrong.

Nationwide Shipping

We ship to all 50 states except Alaska and Hawaii. Because our beef ships flash-frozen with dry ice, we’re currently unable to guarantee it arrives safely frozen to those two states given the extended transit time required.

  • Processing time: Orders are packed within 1–3 business days of being placed.
  • Ship days: Orders ship Monday through Wednesday, so your package is never sitting in a carrier facility over the weekend losing its cold chain.
  • Packaging: Every order ships in an insulated box lined with dry ice to keep your beef fully frozen in transit.
  • Transit time: Most orders arrive within 1–3 business days of shipping via FedEx or USPS.
  • Shipping cost: Free shipping on orders over $76. Orders under $76 ship for a flat rate of $14.99.

Local Pickup (Pennsylvania)

If you’re local to St. Marys, Pennsylvania, farm pickup is available as an alternative to shipping.

  • Pickup location and timing details are provided after your order is confirmed
  • You’ll be notified as soon as your order is ready
  • Please arrive within your scheduled pickup window

Order Timing & Availability

Because our beef is farm-raised and processed in batches from a limited herd, availability can vary throughout the year, and processing times may shift depending on demand. All orders, shipped or picked up, are subject to availability. If a cut sells out between when you order and when we pack it, we’ll reach out to make it right, whether that’s a substitution, a refund for that item, or a wait time estimate, whichever you prefer.

We recommend ordering early to secure your preferred cuts, especially around holidays.

Quarter & Half Beef Orders

Bulk orders, quarter and half beef, are handled separately from our standard shipped shop, since they require coordination with our processing partner. Here’s how it works:

  1. Submit a request through our Contact page
  2. We confirm availability and go over order details with you
  3. Processing is scheduled with our butcher partner
  4. Pickup is finalized, either at the farm or directly from the butcher
  • Cut instructions are selected by you directly with our butcher
  • Processing fees are paid directly to the butcher and are separate from the beef price
  • A deposit may be required to reserve a bulk order

For more on processing, visit our butcher partner: Rising Spring Meats.

If Something Arrives Damaged or Thawed

We stand behind every order. If your beef arrives thawed or damaged, contact us within 48 hours with a photo of the package and its contents, and we’ll send a replacement at no cost to you.
