About Grass-Fed Beef

What is Grass-Fed Beef?

Grass-fed beef comes from cattle that eat grass and forage instead of grain. It’s a simple idea with a real impact on flavor, fat content, and nutrition, but the label gets confusing fast, since not every “grass-fed” claim means the same thing.

Some cattle are grass-fed for most of their lives, then moved to a feedlot and grain-finished in the final weeks before processing. That switch changes the fat composition, the flavor, and the overall nutritional profile. At Sugar Hill Farm, our cattle never make that switch. They eat grass and forage from birth through processing, grass-fed and grass-finished, with no grain at any point.

Our herd of Scottish Highland cattle grazes on open pasture in St. Marys, Pennsylvania, rotating through fresh grass year-round. Every cut is processed at a USDA-inspected facility, flash-frozen at peak freshness, and shipped direct to your door, no warehouse and no middleman in between.
